How it works

Backup configuration is simple

Step 1:
Enable the transaction logging (archive mode) for all database to back up.

Then, create a Lotus backup set in StorageVault™ Server Backup Agent (SBA) client-side backup application by selecting [Lotus Domino Server Backup] or [Lotus Notes Client Backup] from the backup set type dropdown menu. Enter the name for this backup set, e.g. Lotus BackupSet.

Step 2:
Enter the path to notes.ini. For Domino Server, login to the Domino administration console, select the [Configuration] tab, and expand [Server], select [notes.ini file] to display the directory path.

Step 3:
Select the corresponding database for backup.

Step 4:
Configure the backup schedules. SBA will create two default schedule initially. One is "Database Backup Schedule" and the other is "Transaction Log Backup Schedule". If these two schedules are not enough, you can add a new backup schedule by clicking [Add] button.

You can edit the settings of each backup schedule by selecting the appropriate schedule in the above screen and then click [Properties].
Step 5:
Configure the encryption settings in the following screen. By choosing "Default", SBA will use the current password of the backup account as the encryption key. If you wish to define a unique encrytion key for this backup set, choose "Custom", and then configure the custom encryption settings.

Step 6:
When the above steps completed, the backup set has been created successfully.

Step 7:
Configure the temporary backup folder by clicking [Options] on menu. It is recommended that the temporary directory have disk space of at least 120% of the total database size (e.g. total size of all database files). It is also recommended that the temporary directory should be configured on a local drive, although a network attached drive is usable.

When completed, the backup set has been configured successfully, and backup jobs will be started automatically as defined in the backup schedules.
Step 8:
You can trigger a backup job manually by clicking the [Backup] button.

Step 9:
Select the appropriate backup set, and the backup type, i.e. Database or Transaction Log.

Step 10:
Lotus Domino database will be backed up to the corresponding AhsayOBS.
